Accomplishments

    ·         Supported strong law enforcement budget to keep our city safe

    ·         Aggressive rehabilitation program of city streets, sidewalks and city facilities using special grant funds. Over 3 million dollars spent since 2003.

    ·         Requested that developers designate homes for our First Time Home Buyer Program so that residents in South El Monte have an opportunity to become home owners.

    ·         Worked with city staff to develop three new shopping centers that will bring needed commercial and retail development to our city.

    ·         Requested the remodeling of New Temple Park, Senior Citizen Center and the Community Center using grant funds

    ·         Continues to seek funds to beautify our city and to create more landscaping at our major street intersection

     

    $16 Million Dollars will be spent the next three years to:

    • $2 million dollars will be spent on sewers, streets curbs, traffic signals and landscaping
    • 30 low interest loans to residents for home rehabilitation
    • $200,000 for First Time Home Buyer Program making it possible for residents to own their own home
    • Business Rehabilitation grants to beautify the local businesses community in our city
    • Street median islands reconstruction to include landscaping throughout the city
